2016: Top 10 Nigerian Music Producers

As the end of year 2016 draws nearer, it is important to appreciate the producers who worked really hard to delight us with their very interesting sounds which made 2016 more fun. I present you with my top 10 producers in the year  2016.

Super creative producer, Masterkraft,  is definitely the man of the year when it comes to music production in Nigeria. You can count up to fifteen… or say twenty hits? Skuki’s E Pass Go, Fada Fada and more that came straight out of his magical fingers. Don’t forget he also single-handedly produced CDQ’s ‘Quality’ album. Less than two weeks ago, the super brilliant producer  dropped a fresh groovy joint Salsa, which would make music/ dance lovers very happy this Yelutide season.

Veteran producer, Puffy Tee, is obviously one of the best producers in 2016. He started the year well with Mayorkun’s hypnotic jam, ‘Eleko’ which recorded over one million views in just 12 days. He made another big song , You & I’ for Tobi Grey.

Magical beatmaker, Young John, has refused to lose his craft in 2016. Rather, he keeps getting better. The wicked producer created some magical sounds as ‘Konkobility’ and ‘Kojo’ and newly produced DJ Jimmy Jatt’s ‘Orekelewa’.

Solidstar’s producer, PBanks produced eighteen out of the 21-tracker ‘WEED’ album, an album which houses super dope tracks like  Wait Refix featuring Patoranking and Tiwa Savage and Emergency.

Mavin’s in-house producer, Altims, has been with his label for some time now but he upped his game this year with massive hits as Oluwa Ni, Standard, Hey Stranger and Problem which are all housed on Reekado Banks’  ‘Spotlight’ album.

Super talented producer Mystro, makes the list with great tunes as Type of Woman, Heartbeat and Orezi’s Call The Police.

YBNL Nation’s in-house producer Pheelz, is responsible for Olamide’s huge Abule Sowo and many rich sounds on Adekunle Gold’s ‘Gold’ album.

Though not a greenhorn, this year is a game changer for KezyKlef. The super producer is responsible for a few hits as E Sure For Me  and Achikolo.

This list would not be complete without the mention of drummer boy, Krizbeatz. Tekno’s Diana and Lil Kesh’s Shele Gan Gan speak for him.

New but very skilled beatmaker P Loops, brought D’banj back to relevance with his production of monster hit ‘Emergency’. He also crafted the beat to Rayce’s popular and groovy single, Wetin Dey.

Revered beatmaker, Del’B, is well-known for birthing hit tracks year in year out; from Limpopo to DJ Neptunes’ So Nice, Runtown’s Bend Down Pause, Feeling The Beat to mention some. This year is no exception as he is responsible for big songs as Kcee’s Tinana and Humblesmith’s Change.
