Afropop singer, Sexy Steel, warmed himself into the hearts of many music lovers in Nigeria when he dropped ‘Bebedi Alhaja’ many years ago. He disappeared for a long time but returned in 2013 with a collaboration he had with Iyanya titled ‘Mambo’. He left the music scene once again. The singer could fairly pass for a part-time recording artiste then. Gone are the days when Sexy Steel could be called a part-time artiste. Though engaged with many other vocations as fashion designing, acting and sculpting, the proliferation of Afropop singers in the Nigerian music industry might have pushed him closer to music.
Sexy Steel freed himself last year from all the limitations of better exploration of his singing abilities. He went for the blessings of magical beat maker and then producer of the moment, Young John for his hit song, ‘Sisi’. He followed up with a very expensive video that further pushed the song. While basking in the success of the song, he called on Tekno and Olamide for a remix. They birthed a better version of ‘Sisi’. Despite the fact that the singer’s status on the Nigerian music scene had changed considerably with the success of ‘Sisi’, he went further to shoot the visual for ‘Sisi’ remix directed by fast-rising director, Avalon Okpe.
Sexy Steel who has learned never to quit music for the shortest period of time is busy shooting the videos of two of his newly recorded songs, ‘VIP’ and ‘Le Mo Mi’. His determination and hardwork in the last one and a half years have earned him many invitations to shows of recent. These recent efforts may also get him some nominations at different forthcoming Nigerian music Awards and even give him a better posture on the Nigerian music scene.
