I bet not many Nigerian music followers are familiar with the name Tymg nor the signature ‘Good To Go’ but trust me the brain behind the signature is a hit maker who has been around the corner for nothing less than six years now. In case you don’t know, the talented beat maker is responsible for N.A.W.T.I- the comeback hit single of Afropop pioneer Olu Maintain in 2011. After this, he went on a hiatus for many years but announced his return months ago with the making of hit single Come and Take by Alizee.
Last month, Nigerian dancehall singer Orezi put out a powerful Afrobeat hit single Cooking Pot, which confirms the super talented producer is here to stay. While the super dope jam remains talk of the town and gathering more and more acceptance by the day, Tymg came through with another banger titled You Know It by Afro Hip-Hop act, Omo Akin. The producer is so skillful and unique there is a way he samples the sounds of American Hip-Hop classics and blend it nicely with contemporary Afro Hip-Hop sounds. This is evident in Cooking Pot as he sampled Brandy’s I Wanna Be Down and also sampled one of Dr Dre’s sounds in Omo Akin’s newest jam Party Like 1999.
Yes. It’s about that time for the magically-fingered Tymg. I want you to watch out for this beat beast- he could still ‘midwife’ more hits before the year runs out.
