How Hardwork Paid Off For Orezi

Orezi also known as Alhaji Orezi is a Nigerian dancehall/ R&B artiste signed to Sprisal Entertainment. He became popular in 2013 with the release of ‘Rihanna’. Thereafter, he dropped ‘Yougarrit’- a groovy jam that would get you dancing any day. In 2014, Orezi released a monster hit ‘Shoki’. His success within a year got him a nomination in the ‘Next Rated’ category at the 2014 Headies Awards. He went back to the studio worked with Davido on a remix of his hit song that rocked 2015: ‘Shuperu’.

Despite his good vocals, immense creativity, his back-to-back hits and catchy videos with good choreography and thrilling dance steps, Orezi wasn’t getting the recognition he deserved on the music scene. He had no endorsement deals and wasn’t invited to shows as expected. He persevered and worked harder. His hardwork finally paid off in 2015 when he landed an endorsement deal with predict-and-win betting company, MerryBet. He confirmed this in a track off his debut album titled ‘Yagolona’: ”MerryBet don pay o/ I say they call me Orezi”. Subsequently, he started getting invitation to shows more often.

His The Ghen Ghen Album released in September last year houses powerful R&B, Dancehall and Afropop songs. Some of the tracks are: ‘Big Something’ ft MI & Flavour, ‘Ogede’ ft Wizkid & Timaya, ‘Under the Blanket’, ‘Double Your Hustle’, and ‘Jesus Pikin’. I consider this a very good album. His first tour which starts in New York, US on May 7th also confirms improvement. He, however, has to keep working hard to maintain his current position in the industry.
