Sony Music Global act, David Adeleke, who is popularly known as Davido aka OBO dropped a single titled If a couple of months ago. In the love song, he says ‘thirty billion for the account oh’. The Nigerian pop star never said he had that amount of money in his bank account but many already insinuated he had. And since then, there have been reactions from fans and music observers on if the superstar actually possessed the thirty billion Naira mentioned in his song.
Heavens broke loose yesterday when veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, said, in a Hiptv interview that the widely accepted, monster hit single was a bad influence on the Nigerian youth. The thespian opined: ”Entertainment and pop culture impacts the people in a very subtle manner. Thirty billion from the account and that’s from entertainment. When you tell a young child thirty billion for the account, he would want to grow up and get the money by any means whether yahoo plus oh kidnapping oh…”
A lot of Nigerians including Davido’s fans and even fellow artistes have reacted bitterly to Patrick’s thoughts on the Afropop singer’s single with many describing his outburst as ‘bullshit’, ‘total crap’ and ‘stupid talk’.
