The month of December is one of the months of the year that witness the hottest Nigerian songs. Why is this so? It is so because it is the month that hosts the widely celebrated always-fun-filled Yuletide season. So, anytime we step into the month of December, many Nigerian artistes run to the studio to record bangers that would make the festive period more fun for their fans. The month of December in 2018 wasn’t different as many artistes flooded the Nigerian music space with fresh records. I will highlight these songs below but I will only highlight the top 10 Nigerian songs of the month so that I don’t bore you with an epistle. These top joints are the most streamed and downloaded as I write and some of them are currently buzzing on the airwaves, banging in night clubs, at parties and on the streets.

1. Iyanya- No Drama ( Prod. By Blaq Jerzee)

After the frenzy of Iyanu (Holy Water) went down, things became tough, once again, for Afro R&B star Iyanya. However, he got it right once again earlier in this month with his trending love tune, No Drama. Thanks to the ‘Esama of Beats’ Blaq Jerzee, who crafted a hypnotic instrumentation to the lyrical depth of Iyanya on the song. No Drama is apparently one of the top 10 Nigerian songs of the month of December, 2018.

2. DJ Tunez- Turn Up ft. Wizkid & Reekado Banks

In the middle of December, Starboy Entertainment’s official disc jockey DJ Tunez came through with Turn Up ft. Wizkid & Reekado Banks. The fire jam has now become a must-play in Nigerian night clubs- another song on the list of the top 10 Nigerian songs of this month.

3. Phyno- Iyilu Ife ( Prod. By Benjamz)

About two years ago, Phyno and Benjamz teamed up for a powerful highlife-laced love tune, Pino Pino- a classic that is still being enjoyed by many today. They pulled the same feat, once again, a couple of weeks ago with the release of Iyilu Ife. In fact, this is a huger Highlife-laced love record!

4. Maleek Berry- Doing U ( Prod. By Maleek Berry)

Anytime Yuletide is round the corner producer cum singer Maleek Berry always have some goodies in stock for his fans. He didn’t disappoint this year as he put out two weeks ago, Doing U, which has been streamed and downloaded by tens of thousands of his fans- this is apparently one of the 10 hottest Nigerian songs of the month of December, 2018.

5. Falz- Bon Soir ft Olu Maintain ( Prod. By Sess)

Comical rapper Falz The Bahd Guy’s huge collaboration with Yahooze crooner Olu Maintain, Bon Soir, which dropped this month is one club banger that has been buzzing in every Nigerian night club since release.

6. Barry Jhay- Go down ( Prod. By Antras)

It is safe to say it’s been a fantastic year for son of Fuji music legend Ayinde Wasiu, Barry Jhay. The talented lad whose singles Aiye and Don Pablo were still ‘disturbing’ Nigerian airwaves, in the month of December 2018, put out a hot party jam Go Down that was hugely accepted and currently being enjoyed at parties this Yuletide period- one of the top 10 Nigerian songs of December, 2018.

7. Barry Jhay- Normal level ( Prod. By Lussh)

Normal Level which dropped the same day as Go Down, is also one of the top 10 Nigerian songs of the month of December.

8. Olamide- Oke Suna (Prod. By Pheelz)

On December 14th 2018, Nigerian rapper Olamide, finally dropped his then-hugely anticipated 8th music project, YBNL Mafia Family. The dope compilation houses many hit tracks. Oke Suna is arguably the hottest track on the Afro-Hip-Hop playlist and counts as one of the top 10 Nigerian songs of December, 2018.

9. Olamide- Ika ft. Yomi Blaze ( Prod. By Pheelz)

Rap fire, Ika, is another hit track off the YBNL Mafia Family album.

10. Teni- Uyo Meyo ( Prod. By Jaysynths)

Despite the newness of Teni’s fresh single, Uyo Meyo, it has been streamed and downloaded tens of thousands of her fans. What a melody! Little wonder it was that accepted.
